Women in the working world today make about $0.77 to every $1.00 that men make according to this article in Forbes magazine. However, it seems that women still believe they are being fairly compensated for their work. The article suggests that women put greater emphasis on satisfaction and having a well balanced life and so the money doesn't matter as much to them. I think that if women knew what their male co-workers were making and if there were a disparity the women of the world would care. I believe that women don't look at the guy standing next to them in the same job and think he is probably making more than me. They assume that they are being fairly compensated for their work. Women may care more about overall happiness than men (I don't know if that's true), but I think if wages were public knowledge there would be a lot of unhappy women in the workplace.
