Probably most people don't think about fetal protection laws unless they hold a hazardous job and then these laws become very important. A business job or a job behind a desk or even most pharmacy job don't pose much hazard to a fetus. However, what do you do if you are a police office or firefighter that is pregnant. Something else to think about is hazardous jobs for male reproduction. What if the job can leave the male sterile or can cause mutations that can be passed on to his children? Should there be fetal protection for males as well? The link below discusses soem of the legal issues with this debate and some cases that have gone on. I don't think there are answers to these questions yet and this debate isn't clear cut but it is thought provoking.
